Original U.S. Indian War era Springfield Armory .45-70 caliber Trapdoor Carbine. This carbine is a fine example, is all original, and has a minty bore. The stock on this carbine is a very rare M1877 type. It is ESA cartouched and dated 1878 which is 3 years earlier than the barreled action. The original SWP cartouched and dated 1881 stock must have gotten damaged during its original use and was replaced with another. Overall an attractive Indian War era carbine.
