Original, rare, and nice early U.S. Indian War era Springfield Armory Model 1870 .50-70 caliber trapdoor rifle. This 2nd variation M-1870 rifle is all intact, never repaired nor modified, and has a most excellent bright sharp bore. The wood bares all of its original and numerous cartouches as well as a rack number "28" in back of the triggerguard. The metal remains in great condition, is mostly still arsenal bright in color just age tarnished in places. This is a nice attic un-touched rare U.S. Indian War issue Model 1870 Trapdoor Rifle which presents very nicely on display.
