Original and virtually mint U.S. Indian War era M-1879 .45-70 caliber rifle. This beautiful rifle was apparently issued because it has its original M-1887 sling intact but shows no actual service use. The rifle has never been repaired nor modified, bares a perfect 1882 cartouche and firing proof "P" in back of the triggerguard, and as can be expected for a mint rifle has a mint bore. The case color on the block and tang remain intact and vivid in color. This beautiful example would be extremely hard to upgrade in condition.
